Sony hints at PS3 for TGS
Excitement mounts
Japan's most important gaming expo is fast approaching, and the latest excitement doing the rounds is that the Playstation 3 will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show in September. The revelation came from Sony boss Ken Kutaragi, who was speaking at last week's Playstation Conference. "We hope to use the Tokyo Game Show as a chance for everyone to get to know, or possibly experience, what next-generation entertainment is all about," the big chief commented, whilst unveiling the PS3 development kit. The kit itself is codenamed Cytology. It is specced with a 2.4ghz CPU and 512mb of RAM. A new kit dubbed the PS3 Reference Tool - smaller in size - will be out come December. The new machine will run at 3.2ghz - the same as the PS3.

A mere 450 kits have been distributed worldwide so far - but Kutaragi insists that Sony are now ramping-up distribution to meet demand. "We've been getting a lot of requests from developers since E3 that they want more development kits for the PS3," he commented. "The demand for the kits has gone beyond what we can handle. We've been discussing what we can do about it."
"I'm not going to reveal it's price today, I'm only going to say that it'll be expensive," Kutaragi also bravely informed attendees to the conference. More on this soon, then.
