Deep Fried developer formed
Handheld developer launched
A brand new development studio announced their presence on the gaming scene this week, with Deep Fried Entertainment stepping into the limelight. The new start-up is formed by several veteran developers formerly of EA, who are already in talks with major publishers about creating games for handheld systems. The DS and PSP look likely targets for the new company, created by Russell Rice, Steve Tolin, Ryan Bedard and Brian Tolinc. The studio will be based in Vancouver, Canada.
New COO Brenda Bailey, formerly the Regional Director of the Canadian Cancer Society, announced the new company in grandiose style, stating: "Our team shares a combined 35 years of game industry experience. Our guys have made games that run the gamut from blockbusters to niche titles for industry giants and boutique developers. They've launched platforms and re-birthed gaming genres. We've truly built an amazing team at an exciting time for the video game industry."
Given several of the team's history working on Need for Speed titles for EA, it seems likely a racer could be on the cards for Deep Fried's debut. We'll keep you informed.
