Sensible Soccer scores again
What a result...
If ever the post-Abramovich/Chelsea world needed a more 'sensible' approach to soccer, it is certainly now, so it's with great pleasure we reveal that a new title in the venerable series is under development, and will be returning to consoles in 2006 courtesy of Codemasters. The new game will apparently be out in the second-quarter of next year, on the PC, PS2 and Xbox.
Even more promisingly the Codies are promising a return of the pure arcade brilliance that was the hallmark of the seminal original, including over-the-top tackling, physics-defying curls, and generally huge kicks. An intuitive control system is also the order of the day, we learn, whilst 'a modern take on the traditional zoomed out' camera view will be devised. The tactical awareness of the top-down view will, I repeat will, return - which will come as a welcome boon to fans of the original. UK developer Kuju are creating the new title, with help from the veteran creator of the original Jon Hare, and Codies bosses David and Richard Darling will also have a hand bringing the series back to life.
"Following the success of Sensible Soccer's recent mobile edition and the fantastic retro Plug 'n' Play TV version of the game, it's great to bring a truly new version out for the first time in over eight years on all of the major formats." enthused Jon Hare. "We are doing everything in our power to modernise and recreate the sheer playability, fun and footballing depth of the original and remind the playing public just what they have been missing out in the current market of slow, drab sims."
Like Sensible World of Soccer back in the day, zillions of (potentially) real teams, players and competitions are promised, coupled with four-player multiplayer action that promises to be the very epitome of fun on a stick. We hope. We'll keep you posted on this as we learn more, and as you can tell, we're already pretty excited by this news.

Man, I hope they get this right. Sensi was the only football game to count back in the day and hasbeen screaming for an update for ages.
I hope they retain the simplicity that made the earlier Sensis so accesible. I still twist the joystick after eveyr kick, no matter the footie game, in the hope that the ball will curl into the net.
