Capcom finds Lost Planet
New 360 exclusive
With the Xbox 360 hitting Japanese retailers over the weekend, publisher Capcom and platform holder Microsoft chose the new console's debut to announce a brand new title, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, a sci-fi third-person shooter set for launch this time next year. The new game will be jointly developed between Microsoft and Capcom. The Japanese publisher today released the first footage of the brash new title along with a series of images. Korean actor Lee Byung-hun, big in Japan, will be modelled as the game's star, and will take the role of a man out to avenge his father's murder against the monstrous Eecrid. In the game, players will be able to take control of some large mech-like machines, and will be battling all manner of monsters and the like across the planet's barren surfaces.

As well as a full singleplayer campaign, we're promised a full multiplayer component incorporating Xbox Live. Byung-hun's star appeal will also be exploited further in some highly-quality CGI sequences which also serve to further develop the plot. Kenji Ohguro, of the Onimusha fame, will serve as lead designer on the new project. Capcom are also creating zombie-shooter Dead Rising as a 360 exclusive. More on all this as we get it.
