Far Cry was cracking, we loved it. We even love the developed sequels, though not quite as much as Crytek's refreshing original. But what has the German developer been up to since releasing the PC hit? Signing big deals with giant publisher EA, is the answer. Indeed, the first game sparked by this deal has been announced today, 'Crysis', which promises to be an original first-person bound for the PC. No release date has been revealed as yet. Sadly, we'll be swapping the beaches of the south Pacific for urban encounters with an alien invasion forces (by the sound of the premise), but never mind, at least we can see how Crytek's technology has evolved with the CryENGINE 2.

The official press release introduces as "a new kind of gameplay challenge requiring adaptive tactics and customisation of weapons and armour in dynamic, hostile environments as mankind struggles to survive in the face of a horrific alien invasion." We're promised evolving locations and situations, bustled along by an original plot, and enlivened with some clever AI, which helped make famous in the first place. Reports suggest the game could be among the first to boast DirectX 10 technology for Windows Vista, but that remains unconfirmed.

"Our focus has always been on innovating gameplay and technology, and bringing new experiences to gamers through our original intellectual properties. Crysis will be a showcase for that commitment and will offer gamers from all over the world the next step in gaming," droned the press release. We'll keep you posted, give us beaches, jungle and blue seas, Crytek!
