Lara's impressive schooling revealed
Adebibe speaks on Croft role
With the new Tomb Raider currently riding high in the charts and in review scores, its fair to say that Eidos and Crystal Dynamics have gone some way to turning around the ailing series, so dented by the lacklustre previous effort from Core Design. With SCI taking over Eidos, we even get a new 'real-world' Lara to 'enjoy', in the shape of former Top Shop assistant Karima Adebibe. An extensive national competition delivered young Miss Adebibe to the publisher's doors, and for the next year she'll be promoting Lara's image globally with appearances, modelling, interviews and more.
This week 1UP.com notes that the new Lara Croft was interviewed on BBC Radio Five, as part of their 'Up all Night' show. In the interview Karima revealed that presently she's only contracted to Eidos for one year, perhaps demonstrating the still-unsure footing of the franchise. She also spoke of the training which she received in order to become the living-breathing embodiment of Lara, a mix of finishing school etiquette and SAS-style toughness helping Adebibe 'feel' like the real Lara Croft, in her own words.
"It involves acting, skills, so much more than just modelling," she added on the 'gig'. We'll keep you posted on Lara's virtual and real-world come-back, as well as whether young Karima will be sticking around in the future.
