Golden Axe returns on next-gen
PS3 and Xbox 360 versions announced
One for those of an 'older skool' persuasion this morning, as we can reveal from the E3 expo in LA that Sega have announced the return of arcade favourite Golden Axe. Big back in the day on the Mega Drive and a revelation in the arcade, Golden Axe is currently in development for the PS3 and Xbox 360, according to the latest news out of the Japanese publisher. The game is set for release in 2007.
Newly-acquired developer Secret Level are charged with orchestrating Golden Axe's next-generation revival, and whilst specifics remain scant Sega are promising a trailer during the show. "Golden Axe is one of our most treasured brands and is a complete re-imagining of the story that will take gamers on an unforgettable journey," beamed Scott Steinberg, some kind of marketing bigwig at Sega America. "The vision we have for the remake of Golden Axe is nothing short of remarkable and it can only be realized on the PS3 and Xbox 360."
We'll keep you posted on this new title as we learn more.
