The fame of developer Introversion and their imaginative game Darwinia is definitely on the rise, the game having already won over numerous critics, picking up a raft of rewards and a fervent cult following online. In turn, this has caught the eye of the console big boys, and Microsoft, who are duly courting the developer at present.

"I'm afraid I can't really give you any concrete details at the moment - suffice it is to say that we are currently discussing a number of deal negotiations with Sony and Microsoft," Vicky Arundel of Introversion commented recently, having been questioned on the prospect of an Live version of the popular title. The game weighs in at 30MB on the PC, making it ideal Arcade fodder.

Darwinia is currently delivered to gamers via Valve's delivery system Steam, suggesting that a cross-over to the Xbox Arcade (or similar service on Sony's PS3) wouldn't be too much of a leap of faith. That said, platform holders do sometimes drive a hard bargain, and it is suspected that negotiations are ongoing at present. Introversion's new game - 'Defcon' - is currently in development, scheduled for release at the end of the summer.
