Actor sues Take-Two over Warriors likeness
'They stole me!'
As if the re-emergence of the Hot Coffee scandal in the form of the New York subpoena served against publisher Take-Two wasn't enough, further misery was piled upon the US company today in the form of another lawsuit. 1UP.com report that former actor Roger Hill will sue over the use of his likeness in the successful videogame The Warriors, and is demanding 250,000 USD and a halt to sales of the game.
Hill was one of the stars of the 1979 film on which the game is based, and Rockstar had reportedly approached Hill when developing the game about using his likeness. Reports suggest the parties failed to reach an agreement, however, but nevertheless Hill believes the company went ahead and used his image without licence to do so.
Responding to the lawsuit, a Take-Two spokesperson told a New York newspaper that the publisher "has a valid third-party license for the rights to use Roger Hill's likeness and the character of Cyrus in the 'Warriors' video game and related marketing materials."
More on this as we get it.
