EA make Bad Company
'Make'... not 'are'...
No, that's not a cheap jibe about monolithic publisher Electronic Arts, it is in fact reference to the new Battlefield title which has now officially been revealed by the company. Speculation about a next-generation outing dubbed 'Bad Company' had been raging ever since a GameInformer preview appeared to reveal the game's existence, and now EA have let the cat of the bag properly.
A 2007 release is on the cards for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3, with a new singleplayer campaign promising to offer far more than past outings, whilst the multiplayer mode remains just as strong as ever. The new Frostbite game engine created by Digital Illusions will apparently make for highly interactive/destructible environments, whilst a plot filled with 'dark humour' is said to bind the title together.
"The heart of DICE's multiplayer games is the frenetic, unpredictable nature of the sandbox experience, where anything could happen at any moment, and that's what we're bringing to the core of Battlefield: Bad Company's single-player campaign," beamed producer Karl Magnus Troedsson. "In a world that's 90 percent destructible, the gameplay possibilities are infinite - the battlefield is always changing, forcing players, team-mates, and enemies to react accordingly. Gamers will have total freedom to adapt to and tackle challenges in creative Battlefield-style ways."
