With approaching and the handheld maturing, a number of sources have begun mooting the possibility of a price-cut. In response have issued a statement to site Eurogamer.net, denying that any kind of price change is imminent. "We've got no plans to cut the price of PSP at this moment in time," read a statement from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, with the American branch of the manufacturer having also offered a similar denial.

Instead, Sony's spokesperson was keen to point out that the handheld still offers great value - thanks to the new functionality being added by the frequent updates to the system. The PSP currently offers gaming as well as internet browsing, email, photos, and films. A US representative insisted that consumer awareness about the system's multiple uses remained more important than the price.

Despite Sony's insistence that all is going according to plan, then, the remains a cheaper option, with a more substantial range of dedicated titles to boot. Meanwhile, criticism continues to be levelled against Sony that the PSP relies to heavily on ports. More as we get it.
