PSP pricing unchanged
Sony remain unconcerned by DS success
With Christmas approaching and the PSP handheld maturing, a number of sources have begun mooting the possibility of a price-cut. In response Sony have issued a statement to UK site Eurogamer.net, denying that any kind of price change is imminent. "We've got no plans to cut the price of PSP at this moment in time," read a statement from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, with the American branch of the hardware manufacturer having also offered a similar denial.

Instead, Sony's spokesperson was keen to point out that the handheld still offers great value - thanks to the new functionality being added by the frequent updates to the system. The PSP currently offers gaming as well as internet browsing, email, photos, music and films. A US representative insisted that consumer awareness about the system's multiple uses remained more important than the price.
Despite Sony's insistence that all is going according to plan, then, the Nintendo DS remains a cheaper option, with a more substantial range of dedicated titles to boot. Meanwhile, criticism continues to be levelled against Sony that the PSP relies to heavily on PS2 ports. More as we get it.
