The United Kingdom is set to receive 220,000 consoles on day-one, according to news from UK. As Europe's largest gaming market, the country was always expected to receive healthy shipment levels, though concern had rumbled given the woeful stock levels reaching North America and particularly gaming-mad late last year.

UK trade publication MCV are quoting chief as revealing the launch figure, though question marks still hang over whether it will be enough. "I think if I go down on bended knee, I might get a little bit more [and] I will try to get as many units as I possibly can," he explained. "But it will certainly be the biggest launch that the games has ever seen, in terms of day one numbers into the marketplace."

Maguire explained that the UK constitutes 22% of the total PAL market (Europe, the middle-east, and Australasia), and that ordinarily he might hope for more units, but the scale of the launch means the 220K figure is most likely.

MCV's report also sees Maguire blaming unfavourable exchange rates for the 425GBP price point, the boss stating that it will definitely drop below 400GBP as soon as possible. "Of course, I would dearly love to have the PlayStation 3 RRP under £400, and at such time as we can afford to do so, we will."
