Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
Not just a simple add-on, this is Wolfenstein the sequel.
Before each mission you will be allowed to choose team mates from various specialties to aid you in your task. In order to succeed you will have to use your command skills and team to their full potential. As Jonathan Moses (Activision) puts it, "The days of going 'Rambo' are over". The user interface has been closely looked into and you will be able to select a team mate and give them a context sensitive order without having to leave the action. There is also a system in place to give team mates orders matched with a go code for coordinating attacks.
"The primary design goal for Enemy Territory is to put a player in command of a team, without taking him out of the action, thereby allowing players to give orders and directions while fighting alongside the squad mates they are commanding. To accomplish this we've created a command and control interface that is as simple and intuitive as selecting and using a weapon." - Kevin Cloud (id software)
The AI bots will have distinct appearances and voices to personalise them throughout the main game. They also make a welcome appearance in multiplayer rounding out the numbers for each team. In multiplayer the bots should act very life like, the developers have gone so far as having the bots shoot each other just prior to the game starting like many players do. Once into the competition they will move independently toward the objectives and will come to your aid if called. They prioritise the human players over the computer counterparts (thankfully) and will move toward the closest request for help first.
There is also a role-playing element in both the single and multiplayer games. As you play through you gain experience and move up in rank, which will be represented on your character skin, and will give you extra or improved skills. For example if you used the sniper rifle you would find your cross hairs focus more quickly after each shot. Engineers will be quicker at performing actions and soldiers will be able to carry more ammo and a heavy and a light weapon at the same time.
For multiplayer games you can choose from four different character classes each with their own special abilities. If you've played the original you will be familiar with most of the characters. The soldier is the backbone of any assault or defence, medics can heal and revive players whilst engineers are needed for demolition and repairs. An extra character class, Covert Ops, has been included for infiltrating enemy ranks. Let's have a look at each class more closely.
Engineer - The engineer has been revamped to be much more integral for the team. You will now be able to lay land mines on the maps that will be clearly marked by a flag for your team but invisible to the enemy. Should one of your team accidentally step on a land mine it will be indicated by smoke. The mine won't go off until the player steps off it so an engineer can come along and defuse it. Some of the maps will feature buildings that can be constructed, for example a bridge may need to be built so a tank can get across. When these buildings are being constructed they will appear as a 'ghost' so the rest of the team must make sure the engineer is protected. The weapons on offer to the engineer have been improved to make them more potent. You can now carry a sub machine gun, which for the allies is the M1 Garand and the K-43 for the axis, more importantly they will feature a grenade launcher to deliver a bit more punch.

no, the game isnt a completely new thing, so it'll be cheap. ive looked around as well. expect it to be in the $20-35 (USA) price range

Not even a game (FPS) is better than RTCW and that is because RTCW in my opinion got everythng right from graphics and gameplay to so lil lag

You'd be realy surprised how many people are moving away from windows. Game developers need to realise that there is no longer the windows and mac world in PC gaming, Epic Games realised this when they supplied the linux installer on the 3rd cd for Unreal Tournament 2003 it's just a shame they only specified windows and macintosh in the system requirements for the game :(

I love the game and the character selection is really good BUT I must say that the sniperrifle's need more fire power. You have to take a opponent out with a single clear head shot just like RTCW. I need multiple headshots to kill somebody and that's a major disadvantage if you ask me.

There is no single player game. That aspect of the project was abandoned. The new game is fantastic looking, but the voice acting is terrible. Much of the 'voice chat' phrases sound as if they were issued by a constipated man sitting on a toilet and some are unintelligible. [e.g. the word 'enemy' is pronounced in-game as 'ANAMY.'
The 'new' long range rifles are far less powerful than the good old 1 shot 1 kill mausers from rtcw.

i hope you werent insulting Xbox because it is the best damn machine i have ever bought. It has better games and graphics and just everything about it is cooler that the Ps2 or gamecube or even PC

This game kicks ass, except for if your computer gets messed up or sumpin, and u fix it and go to play ET, it wont work.
game is great fun to play but needs more realism and less shuffle bug cheat to jump 20 feet and run so fast to avoid being hit

for those who crap Xbox over PC.....just 1 simple relisation needs to be made...Xbox IS A PC...with a different OS...all it is..is a 750 mhz P3 CPU and a 80 gig HD, coupled with some RAM....the base people..it IS a PC..runin on a different OS..:)

I believe this game, as well as all of the other games which are so very ungodly to be made illegal. People should spend more time doing godly work, and not sinning and shooting each other in a virtual world.
