Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
Not just a simple add-on, this is Wolfenstein the sequel.
Covert Ops - This new class has a couple of important skills. It is the only class that can detect where enemy mines are placed. This is accomplished by using the binoculars to scan the battlefield. They may also steal the uniform off a dead enemy soldier to sneak behind enemy lines. The subterfuge is not perfect, once you open fire your identity is compromised. If the opposing player aims at the covert ops agent whilst they are in disguise a name will not appear above the character and because your weapon remains the same despite your change in uniform your identity can be revealed in this manner. This is because the sniper rifle has been taken from the soldier and this leaves the covert ops class as the only sniper in the game, so should you spot a medic carrying a sniper rifle shoot first and ask questions later. This class will also receive a silenced pistol by default and may also choose the silenced machine gun.
Soldier - While remaining largely untouched you will have access to some more weapons, in particular the MG-42. This gun is from the machine gun emplacements and may now be picked up and carried around. When in motion this gun will be wildly inaccurate but players have the added option of laying down in the prone position where this weapon will be accurate and deadly, providing for a formidable defensive position. The soldier can also carry the paratrooper rifle from the single player game.
Medics - Again this class will not be altered considerably except with the improvements afforded to them by rank. For example the more people you heal, the quicker your health meter will recharge.
The campaigns have been designed with a large degree of cross over of maps between the single and multi player games. The scripting will be somewhat different for each game type. For example in one of the forest levels the multiplayer objective is to escort a tank through to fire on the enemy position. You can't control the tank directly and in order to get it moving you must stand near it, as if the driver was nervous about moving forward without infantry support. The tracks can be blown off by mines and rockets which means the engineers must stay nearby to keep it running. In an effort to reduce some of the chatter that pervades multiplayer games a number of filtering options are available, such as ignoring a particular player, and also the innovative notion of a fire team. As Kevin Cloud explains...
"Though multiplayer battles can be fought with up to 60 players, each Allied or Axis team can now be divided into a core six-man unit or fire team. Players can choose to start their own fire-team, join an existing team, or fight on their own. The player starting the team is the leader and has the ability to give specific orders to his fire team by dropping waypoint markers in the map or by giving vocal commands that only his fire team can see and hear."
When it was announced that this was no longer to be an add-on there was some concern that it might split the community in two. This has however been addressed in two ways. Firstly there will be some crossover content that appeared in the original, the excellent beach level will definitely be amongst the approximately fifteen multiplayer maps offered in Enemy Territory. When the game is released a patch will be posted to this end. Even better news is that the game will not be priced as a full game, expect it to retail at around twenty pounds in the UK. A beta test for the multiplayer game will be available about a month prior to the release for that all important tweaking, and the full game is due out some time this Easter.

You'd be realy surprised how many people are moving away from windows. Game developers need to realise that there is no longer the windows and mac world in PC gaming, Epic Games realised this when they supplied the linux installer on the 3rd cd for Unreal Tournament 2003 it's just a shame they only specified windows and macintosh in the system requirements for the game :(

I love the game and the character selection is really good BUT I must say that the sniperrifle's need more fire power. You have to take a opponent out with a single clear head shot just like RTCW. I need multiple headshots to kill somebody and that's a major disadvantage if you ask me.

There is no single player game. That aspect of the project was abandoned. The new game is fantastic looking, but the voice acting is terrible. Much of the 'voice chat' phrases sound as if they were issued by a constipated man sitting on a toilet and some are unintelligible. [e.g. the word 'enemy' is pronounced in-game as 'ANAMY.'
The 'new' long range rifles are far less powerful than the good old 1 shot 1 kill mausers from rtcw.

This game kicks ass, except for if your computer gets messed up or sumpin, and u fix it and go to play ET, it wont work.
game is great fun to play but needs more realism and less shuffle bug cheat to jump 20 feet and run so fast to avoid being hit

for those who crap Xbox over PC.....just 1 simple relisation needs to be made...Xbox IS A PC...with a different OS...all it is..is a 750 mhz P3 CPU and a 80 gig HD, coupled with some RAM....the base people..it IS a PC..runin on a different OS..:)
