The games also suffer from being removed from their original context. Spending a quid and a few drunken minutes in the pub making Ms. Pacman eat white dots whilst being pursed by a green blancmange whilst your mate goes to the bar is one thing, actually spending your hard-earned cash and soberly devoting your time to such an activity is quite another. Having said that though, whilst many of the games may have aged badly, fans of this simple style of gameplay, may still find them quite enjoyable, especially if you fill your house with the delightful aroma of thick cigarette smoke, liberally spill some lager on the floor, make the carpet at the area of your feet inexplicably sticky and invite some drunken louts to shout abuse at each other round to capture that authentic atmosphere.

The fact remains that all these games are, as Namco implies, ‘Museum’ pieces; pleasant memories, but ones that with the benefit of years and numerous advances in the industry, aren’t as good as memory serves.

To conclude then, the simple pleasures of these games, have suffered with age and as such lack severely in the longevity department. For purists, and retro-freaks? Quite possibly…
