The guy with the install problems, i got the solution here and its pretty nasty. Microsoft can't bother to ship an actually GOOD installer with their .net framework and you need the 2.0 SP1 to start the game. If you got any previous version of the .net framework installed, you need to uninstall it first (because the dumb installer can't be bothered to do it for you) and if like me it somehow bork the uninstall of the 2.0, then you must do it manually with a big number of manual steps (including editing the windoze registry). Took me about 4-5 hours of installing and then removing earlier .net frameworks before i could install the latest one (.net framework 3.5) and finally launch the game!
This game is concentrated on strategy on the empire level. This is not a graphical game, so get your wow bling bling pow pow kicks from some other game please. You control research, the design of your ships, the class of your planets and your leaders. Include diplomacy in there and that's all at the empire level. No micromanaging available here, even for battles who are resolved automatically for you. You need to be able to think in the long term view to be good at this game.
Still, the interface coulda been much improved in the late game where you need to manage thousands of systems! It comes to the point where you don't even care about most of your systems and just let them make you ressources. A bit dull after all the trouble you went to get them i would say.
ive just bought this game and expecting a taxing and enthraling game i couldnt even read a word of it the textures all mess`d up. ive changed evry ingame setting, updated it to v1.5 ive changed every graphics setting, and nothing, every word is as blurry as it is with any other setting i had this problem with ufo aftermath and it was just a half a minute tweak and of you go, ive spent nearly an hour changing my settings and doenloading updates and am not inpressed with the £30 ive just wasted it seems can anyone help it would be appreciated
