Someone, somewhere, will have built themselves a replica of the old sit-down cabinet and stuck a telly and an xbox in it...

this review could not be written better. oh how i agree with you all the way. i have the 3 newest racers, (BO3, NFSU2, and ofcourse OR2, but the most gaming time sits proudly on my outrun 2 gamesave. indeed, the controlls of this game are so deep, that you keep on improving on your own times.

    a few tactics:

    > stick to the inside of the curve.

    > use AuTomatic transmission to gain acces to the shift drift (adjust in the option that the green button will be the downshift button for easy and quick down/up shifts.) there are 2 drifts in outrun 2:

A> brake drift = when steering into a corner, quickly release the throttle, jab the brake, and quickly reapply the trhottle again. then use your steer to controll the direction of the drift. this technique is good for long sweeping corners. dont use this in combo drifts becouse the car takes to long to swap position and in doing so, you will end up in the grass (or a wall)

B> shift drift = when steering into a corner, quickly roll your thumb over the green and red button. the red button must be pressed last (in other words, shift down one gear, and verry quick shift back to the highest gear). NOTE: a shift drift can only be done at speeds of 240 and higher. the advantage of a shift drift is that your car can now drift faster trough tighter corners, and combo drifting (at a S curve or more curves linked to each other) works like a charm with the shift drift.

    > it does not matter how cool the drift looks, if a corner can be taken without drifting, your times will be faster. for instance, if you race the proper lines, then the full first stage needs not a single drift.

    > try starting ANNY drift as close to the inside of the courner as possible. you dont have to start the drift in at the start of a bend. some bends can be taken halfway without drifting, and then quickly shiftdrift the last part before sliding onto the grass. by doing so, half the turn can be taken a few KM/h faster.
