Martin, I wonder just how fat and ugly you must be. Clearly last pick in the playground when picking teams for a game of football. PES5 is a wonderful game, get, get back to playing Myst or D & D with your, 'friends'.

did martin actually PLAY the game?!?! He sounds like his issues with football in general...this wasn't meant to be a pretentious review on your opinion of the decline of English football. I dont give a flying mongoose for your trumped up twaddle - you fail to mention hardly anything about the game, the control methods, the master league sections, etc.
Taxi for Martin........next time, just slap a link to a site that actually bothers to do a decent review in future.
Glad to see the editor put the reporter right, and I hope he was either demoted or sacked for his totally inappropriate and naive version of events. A truly great game, this is.
Whilst there are many faults in this person's review, I also think the editor has got it wrong too. This is NOT evolution, it is completely scrapping the whole control mechanism of PE4, and replacing it with one which, whilst trying it's best to be more realistic, has ended up like being in control of 11 injured and very un-agile players. The scope for individual creativity from one person to the next has been greatly reduced by a system of player movement which, by way of it's v ery slow responsiveness, has greatly reduced the gap in performance level between the robbie savages and the peles amongst us, and that is just plain wrong.
Good morning happy readers, yes, perhaps giving Martin PES5 was a mistake - which I must take the blame for. Personally, I thought his review made for an entertaining read, which is why it stands un-compromised. Having said that, I'm a fan of the series, and therefore felt the need to add my own take too. Thanks for your opinions.
Martin's review was for PES veterans, whom know that Konami would never compromise the gameplay. That's why he never mentioned it because we all know it's going to be flawless. If you are buying an upgrade to PES4 then it's a 65%, 25% wasn't right

sorry i forgot to add that some people like FIFA better only because the amount of sponsers. If pro6 has all the sponsers its gonna put EA out of football simulations

i think its stupid that when u run along with another player they go down like a sack of spuds and sometimes its well annoying cause im on the break and the defender falls over and its a free kick and i would have score!!!!

ProEvo hasn't changed much. Yeah, it is a pretty good game - it was last year too. In fact, it seems like the same good game this year as it was last year. Why buy it twice? That's just dumb. Unless they actually improve the damn thing year on year, I'm not giving them any more of my money.

Pro evo 5 is a good game in that it is more realistic, people like robbie bastard savage cannot turn the defence inside out like it was in pro evo 4. But in comparison, u all have to admit that pro evo 5 doesnt have the tempo, the flow, and the smoothness as the old one. However needless to say, people who rate this game crapper than fifa need to get shot with a bullet bcos u dont know what u on about.
However u fifa lovers have a point, in terms of fast paced action that was of pro evo 4, pro evo 5 doesnt come newhere near it. But isnt that the whole purpose to aim and make the game more realistic, and if u dotn agree with me, bollocks to u and shuv the fifa cover of rooney and ronaldinho up ur arse cos pro evo has and always will set the standards.

for some reason , i just dnt like this game. graphics are amazin but, how to tackle and do skills in this game is hard. not much teams..names of footy teams are odd...i think 30 % is a good score !

Pro Evo 5 IS A GOD DAMN FOOTBALL SIMULATION!
It is the game we all love down to finest detail. If you push someone over in a real match its normally a free kick, just like in PES5. If you hit a ball when your off balance then 9/10 times you sky it, just like PES5.
Martin needs head checking if he can only give this 25%. The minimum this should score is 95%.
Don't want to play real football? Go play FIFA and their arcade version that sucks.
The think i like about pes5 is that they seem to have gone back to pes3 a bit in terms of the power bar and goalkeeper realism. How many times in pes4 did the keeper just stand there and watch as a fairly poor shot sailed into the corner? Yes that happens sometimes in real life but not in every game.
Plus the other thing is when you catch hold of a shot in pes5, u can reallllly catch hold of it, that precious moment that you just cant descibe as the ball comes trickling towards frank lampard 40 yards from goal as he comes piling onto it like an express train, thundering it in off the crossbar remorselessly!! Now doin that against a mate, pure heaven that only pes can provide!

25% possably harsh, but its not far wrong, the gameplay sucks, forget anything else coz we get used to it, but this is the worst pes game ever, but to be fair, it doesnt suck anywhere near as much as fifa, i'd advise anyone to stick to pes4.
The game is right, there is Figo and not fego, and if you haven't played the game you can't talk about it. At least play a demo before you say all those bad things.

PES5 is an improvement on PES4, but sadly, that is all there is to recommend it. It is slow, the commentary is naf and the team names are inexplicable. For the first time ever Fifa actually has better gameplay than PES. Purists will disagree but the proof of the pudding is in the playing. With Fifa 06 it's "You play and they obey". With PES, it's, "You Play and they plod through invisible treacle until the sweet release of the final whistle and a 0-0 draw.
Verdict: 6/10
PES 5 is a pice of garbage. there is no reality in that game. there is no way to do some spectacular moves or pass. fifa 06 is legend. bwd, sori for the gramer, i am from croatia

Like the editor, I too found 'the Martin review' to be very amusing.
Interestingly though, I think Martin has picked out a couple of negative points about the game that other people maybe missed because they were enjoying playing so much. For example, I think he has a point about the commentary - it could do with improvement. The fans in the audience are not perfectly rendered.
....but even considering that, when you get to the 25% mark, the questions that remain on my mind are: did he play it? has he played games before? should he be doing this job?

Martin proves what everyone who loves PES already knows: You have to know your football to understand Pro Evolution Soccer!
I think someone should go back to their old Final Fantasy...The game looks even more beautiful and somehow manages to bring new emphasis to the phrase "look up before you play the ball"...As always it beats FIFA's pass, pass, pass, shoot approach because we can actually play football!

Wow not reading reviews from this guy again. You obviously hate football and everyone associated with it so why write a review on it? Hard to score on this game? Practice at it and you will EVOLVE, this is one of the few games that actually gets better the more you play it. As for having a go at the stupid team names, yes they are stupid but because of fifas monopoly on licenses there is nothing konami can do about it, id much rather have an enjoyable game to play than the fully licensed mess that is fifa.
Pro evo 5 is the best football game ever by a mile and will keep improving bit by bit.

PES 5 is the game I ever wanted of football. Nice game with real players. I LIKE IT VERY MUCH.
What is all this malarcky about pro5 not being fast paced, and being slow and boring? It has its fast-paced periods in matches but obviously not in the full 90mins, but thats the same with REAL football. Those people complaining about this are idiots. The bottom-line is, Pro Evo 5 is a FOOTBALL SIMULATION and is NOT for the average football gamer. This game applies to people who want to play GREAT, REAL footie.
For those people who dont like this game or want an easier, less realistic football game; piss off and get FIFA2006, or better still, die.

EA has gone to less than dog crap now...producing mediocrity in gaming with games like NFSMW and claiming improvement with games such as FIFA '06...only someone who works for FIFA or a complete ignoramous would prefer FIFA over the PES series...even PES4 kicks the shyt out of fifa, and will continue to do so as long as FIFA keeps recycling ideas!

this game irritates me so much its a gr8 game but its got sum stupid bits 2 it - a foul every time u challange 4 the ball............ u are in control ov 1 player about 2 get the ball then it changes who u r in control of.......... wen you runnin bak then suddenly ur player stops or runs in anova direction............ the computers goalkeeper can sum how perfom the matrix and save the ball when its no wher near them......... and the god mode the comp goes in2 when it wnts 2 win.......... it rele irritates me!!!
