There is a saying in the film industry, the first fifteen pages sell a script and the last fifteen sell a movie. 'Iron Storm' certainly has the first fifteen pages nailed but it sure as hell hasn't got that movie magic.

The intriguing premise is that the first world war has dragged on for fifty years with the American and Occidental troops on one side (essentially the West) battling against the Russo-Mongol Empire (Cold War Russia and pals). War has become big business and stocks are traded in the latest killing machines. But it seems that the Russians have developed a new weapon that could shift the balance of power and it's your job to make sure that it never sees the light of day.
The game begins with so much promise and panache. You start just behind the front lines in a fortified entrenched position. You can hear the battle raging over the high reinforced walls and it has a production style that seems authentic despite the fantasy setting. There are medical bays and armouries that you tour briefly as a tutorial. Guards man the walls and doorways and as you head out you genuinely feel you’re leaving a safe harbour into the hell of no mans land. Once outside, the first few levels involve fighting your way through the enemy trenches to infiltrate the enemy base. There are a number of well-executed weapons at your disposal to accomplish this. You're equipped with a sword, pistol, shotgun, heavy weapon and sniper rifle. You may only carry one type of heavy weapon at a time but they have been well thought out and designed so you'll never be carrying one variety that is useless against a certain foe. Mostly you'll be switching between a fast firing machine gun that holds thirty bullets and a slower firing machine gun which holds ten rounds but is equipped with a scope and is more accurate. You can pick up any weapon that the enemy has so if you want to change you won't have to go far.
These early levels represent the best use of the setting that the developers have come up with. The trench warfare that characterised the first world war is exploited fully and there is sufficient variety and challenge so that it never feels forced. In keeping with some strong design elements you will be fighting throughout the day in these levels. Initially it is a bright sunny morning but you will fight through to see dusk and nightfall and have the weather go from snow to rain.
Later on you will infiltrate a camp to be taken into a nearby enemy held town. From here on in are the more staple first person levels requiring you to fight your way through the city streets and avoid getting your head shot off by the numerous snipers lurking in the windows. The graphical engine is not the most advanced out there but it is used to good effect and you will see bombed-out buildings, burning jeeps and the odd tank or two. The snipers are, of course, lethal but not as horrible as in some other games thanks to the laser beam they use to target with. For example at one point I opened a door outward onto a street and as I moved to the doorway I spotted an ominous red dot projected onto the door letting me know that now wasn't the time to stop and tie my shoes. There is something quite nerve wracking about being stuck in a room, seeing an innocent looking dot but knowing that there is a someone waiting with a high powered rifle to blow your head off.

Don't you think it a tad harsh to condemn a game on lack of ability to configure the keys. It is the same with almost any game. You learn to use the controls they have set out for you. Lighten-up, it's part of the gameplay to learn the controls. How old are you? 80.

I wonder what version of Iron Storm I was playing, or rather, what version you were playing, since I could change the key configuration in mine. But I do agree it would truly suck if you couldn't.

you have to wait for the 4 man patrol to go by.do this by hiding begind the rock on the right. once they leave crawl behind the truck and ignore the 2 men. they wont see you.continue crawling intil you reach the prisoner. from then on just follow him!

I got the game and was happy till i tried to play it what's up it goes on to game then goes back to desktop and does it everytime i try to play it. now it say's runtime error 6025 help i really want to play this game.
Hey master, download the patch off of the iron storm website. My version did the same thing, but that should fix it. I am stuck on the "disused factory" level. that lone sniper with the armor is just too hard to kill. anybody got any suggestions? He doen'st come out until you press the crane's button.

I got stuck there too. Here is how you get past that.
Go back to the corner of the hallway where all the dead bodies are. You should see two or three wooden planks leaning against the wall. shoot at them or throw a grenade at them and they will break apart. Behind them is a hallway that leads into a vent shaft. That is your next area to go into. Oh, and ready a grenade before you go in too........
like some of the others im stuck at the prison camp,ican get to the tunnle but i cant out dodge the grenades or bombs that are being dropped, any help at all ?????
Daryl, try low crawling or just run like hell. either way will work. timing is everything in this game. i can't wait to finish it, it is becoming a chore just to get through the levels.

I am in the warehouse and found the elevator opening and climbed down the ladder, but keep getting killed when I try to get out of the next room. When I do get out of the room, two subjects keep killing me and I can't kill them with anything in my arsenal.

Help! I am at the point where I am in a canyon. There are mines and a guy who gives me some pointers but looks to be in bad shape. I tried to crawl, crouch, run including combinations of all three. The guards see me hiding behind the rock and kick my tail every single time. It's probably been 50-butt whippings so far. How do I get past this point? THANKS!!!!

This is an unfair fight, which I got the short end of the stick.
IM talking bout when I got the Nuke-bomb and I have to put it under the lazar gun. These two individuals fallow me into where there is only on door for in and out. I threw everything at them chairs, tables, my mother’s underwear, they refused to go down and there is no escape...Help me damn u help me.
the prision camp is easy get too the tank and the rocks with out being seen then watch for the team to go down the path u came up when they get down the path a little bit through a gas grande to keep them down there then run behind the other car there will be two more standing behind there throw another gas bomb and meet the guy at the boxes and he'll take u to the tunnel once in side u need to get in line with the other guys too get on the truck
i got too the kitchen and cant find the way to the next level does any body know where i go from the kitchen
the hotel u will need to go back to your first save on level 6 witch will let u go back in the tunnels when u inter the room of the tunnel u went left before u went right u need togo right first if u go left u will trap your self on that level i know because i did it my self and couldnt get any where
I'm on the last level having either two tanks te deal with or two helichopters on a roof to deal with. I need a rocket launcher but I havent got one.
I want to go back to the sewers but I cant find the way.
I cant fight the tanks or the choppers.
What shall I do?
Barneys stuck at the same place i am in level4 when u get captured, your supposed to go back through the ceiling domes and down into the lazer room and plant the nuke then go up and blow it up but once u get down to the lazer room these two guys follow you in and kill you right away and u cant kill them, im thinkin it may be a glitch because when you go to the opposite side of the door to the cell room u can see them trying to get through it but they cant. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am also stuck on level 4 after you get taken prisoner, i can get the 2 gaurds stuck in a cornner and get the nuke and i even managed to kill the 2 gaurds up in the lazer control room and get there guns, but the gun will not kill the 2 new gaurds in the cell room , this reeks. any hints would help. Thank you very much

why the hell damn fart can't i download the updated version of Iron Storm, i can't play any cool games cause their all updated, and when i click around the internet and google all I find are damn reveiws. but i saw on google it had said since www.iron-storm didn't work (it said on the cover of the game to go there and thats where you update), You guys typed instead of that type...i can't remember but i clicked and came here can you guys help out as where to update thus play fun games?

i have the nucluar thing and if i go down to put it on the table for the lazer to blow it up there are two guys that i cant kill and always trap me.. are they invencable?i am so lost right now
Before you put the neuclear thing ind the laser, you have to shoot the two guys. it can be done from one if you go a level up, they cant see you from up there.
HELP...... I am in the third level where i'm in the difused wherehouse climed to the crane and jumped to the cat walk. From there I'm supposed to find a goods lift to break a hole in the cement ceiling. I'm stuck on the catwalk. What do I do now??????

Could someone please help - Bettina said I can go a level up and kill the two men from there - I've killed the gunman on the level that you have to put that nuclear thing wiht the radiation thing - but the guy with the gun that blows me apart won't die - i've used 47 bullets from one gun and 3 from a shot gun - all bullets hitting him and he still doesn't die - please help if anyone has any suggestions
In iron storm I am supposed to blow up a tank with a land mine but the only land mine I can find blows me up If I get within 2 feet of it. Is there some trick to pick it up or is there some hidden land mine somewhere that I need to find and use on the tank?
How...could...you...have...trouble!?!? With any part of this game whatsoever!?!? I beat the game on hard, and only died a few times on the first level, while trying to get used to it, and a few times in the train, because the silenced pistol sucks. Though I did get a few double head shots off with it. In any case. You just need to be...you know...a good gamer. And the prolem with the keys can be solved, as I see some other people have stated.

The game is $#!^, I GOT IT FOR FREE IN HAEGEMONIA. SO THAT PROVES HOW BAD THE GAME IS. YOU HUNT DOWN THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE IT AND BURN ALL THIER COPYS OF THE GAME.

Need some help getting out of the old factory (end of level 3). I have killed everyone and am looking around on the upper catwalks. The walkthrough says to get to the goods lift, but there is no goods lift on the catwalk level! The door at the back asks for an identity, but it won't let me in. Need help getting out of this stinkin' factory!

You have to go to the upper catwalk and jump down on top of the concrete-like room with the door that requires ID. There is a square hole in the ceiling of that room. Go down there...
...and just surrender in the beginning of the next level!
when i go to the prison camp, the four men see me all the time and kill me. i cant hide they find me and the copter chases me back in the tunnel a...nd kills me through the walls, what gives?this game blows....

Go back to when you have to kill the 4 doctors. you have to get all of them before they set off an alarm. then those two guys won't be there.
what do you do after you kill all the doctors? i can't get anywhere else.

I don't know about this guy? But I like Iron-storm, I've been playing it in realistic and yes I've bit it a few times but thats the fun of playing this type of game!! And I havent had the same problem with choppieness as this guy clams! I think he need a better computer or find a new profession.

ive been on computers since 1973 when they took up a whole room and i agree with the kinks in this game the chopiness and i have a good pc. the diffaculty on the easiest level is short of impossible and the guy who said he made it thru on the hardest level only biteing the dust a few times stop drinking the bong water pal your dreaming or your useing some cheat i dont know about or your thge luckiest s.o.b. in the videogame world....im good at all different games c.o.d. 1 & 2 - rct 1-2-3 - socom 1 & 2 - sims - deus ex - panzers phase-1 - warcraft series - many star trek & star wars games - halflife 1 & 2 - halo and the oldschool stuff like castle wolfenstein - midway campaign - temple of apshai series - archon - zork trilogy - planetfall, etc etc..so i think can say i know something about pc games.
